I can spell "misanthropic"....
I love food. Duh. So I became interested in how my food was prepared. That, in turn, led me to take up cooking. Combining my love of interesting recipes with my desire to entertain friends is one way I choose to make my life meaningful. To me, cooking for and sharing a meal with someone is an act of love. Even if it is something as simple as a bowl of beans, I find that taking the time and care to craft the dish is therapeutic.And once you experience breaking bread with a someone you do not yet know, they are no longer a stranger.

Places I’ve Traveled
One of my favorite travel experiences was eating my way through lower Manhattan. Kossar's Bialys, Jonah Schimmels knish, Katz' Deli for pastrami and corned beef, some dumpling house in Chinatown, cannoli in Little Italy, and of course, a slice of pepperoni and mushroom NY pizza! Eating street food in Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam was life-altering.
What I Read, Watch, and Listen To
I enjoy shows with a darker theme, like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, House of Cards, or irreverent comedies such as Community, Big Bang Theory, Family Guy. I also love British television: Luther, Sherlock, Dr. Who. Movies with a realistic plot and thoughtful dialog interest me the most. But I also like good sci-fi as well. Netflix's "Sense8" is killer. I love many different styles and genres of music. Depends on my mood or what I am doing. I am equally happy with AC/DC or Dido. Metallica or Barbra Streisand. At this very moment I am listening to John Legend. I am a voracious reader. Vonnegut, Heller, Clavell, DeMille, Connelly, Hosseini- just a smattering of authors I have read. And Bill Watterson was/is a genius.
A Memory of a Home-Cooked Meal
A friend of mine from Ghana made something he called spinach stew with plantains and African yams on the side. It was so spicy that our foreheads were beaded with sweat, but could not stop eating it because it was incredible.
Who I’d Like to Have a Meal With
Well, there was this girl I saw one day in the park who had the most beautiful smile I have ever seen... and I wanted to introduce myself and ask if she would like to have dinner with me. I didn't have the nerve to do it. I don't know her name. But that's who.
