ABOUT THIS MEAL

My parents will be visiting from Wisconsin for the weekend and I thought this would be a good opportunity to introduce them to the world of Meal Sharing. We'll be making some of our Wisconsin favorites (heavy Scandinavian influence ) for you to try as you sip on a Bloody Mary or three.

ON THE MENU

My Grandma's Scottish Oatcakes, Candied Bacon Bites, and Johnnycakes

Made by my dear grandmother, these are authentic oatcakes served with Wisconsin cheese. Slow cooked bacon w/brown sugar and spices. Bite sized corn Johnnycakes/griddlecakes studded with scallions and Wisconsin Brick & Colby Jack Cheeses

Breakfast Souffles

We will be serving thre breakfast souffles w/eggs from my family's chickens, cheese, crumbled sausage, and bread. The second version will have bacon instead of sausage. The last one will be have Italian flavors.

German Pancakes

Also known as a Dutch Baby, these thick pancakes are baked with fruit in a cast iron pan and serve several people each.

Authentic Racine Danish Kringles

Right above my hometown of Kenosha is Racine, WI. A city full of Danish immigrants, Racine's most famous culinary export is the Kringle. Kringles are flakey ovals filled with fruit, nuts, or custard. I will plan on having one Cherry and one either custard or pecan on hand.

Assorted Fresh Fruit

A small assortment of cut fresh fruit.

Fresh Eggs Your Way

We will have fresh eggs on hand from my family's chickens and I will gladly cook some up your preferred way.

Bloody Mary Bar

I will have several accoutrements (including my father's homemade pickles), bloody mary mix, and no less than a half dozen different hot sauces available. One bottle of vodka will also be provided, but feel free to bring more. I will also have orange juice if anybody cares to bring champagne for Mimosas

Great time at Jed's taco Mealshare last night, food was fantastic and I had the best time conversing with Ana and Slaviza. Jed's flour tacos with the rum raisins and onions were exceptional, he is going to do just fine in the competition!

I came to this- my first! - mealshare with my mother and aunt. We all had an amazing time. The food fantastic and more than plentiful. Jed had thought of everything - from fresh fruit to bloody marys. The guests were all vibrant and enthusiastic, and I was so happy to be a part of the fun. Jed's apartment is spacious and comfortable - I will be happily returning :)
