Even though it is called Sunday dinner you car request this meal any day of the week.

ON THE MENU

Bacon wrapped dates

Dates, wrapped in bacon and grilled. Surprisingly delicious.

Home brewed beer

Beer brewed by your host.

Icelandic lamb, Sunday dinner style.

Icelandic lamb, potatoes, salad and sauce.

Sticky taffy pudding and Icelandic whiskey

Originated in Scotland this cake is called "pudding" because it is served after 7 p.m. This cake goes exceptionally well with the first Icelandic Whiskey "Flóki" created by the host.

We had a wonderful dinner with David and his family. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in the door. I got a tour of the house from his youngest daughter! We started our dinner with an appetizer of traditional Christmas bread cooked in sheep fat and halloumi cheese. The bread is a labor of love and is really delicious. Next, our main dinner consisted of traditional Icelandic lamb that was succulent, a nut roast for my vegetarian husband, a fresh green salad, potatoes, and mushroom cheese. Throughout the dinner we were served microbrewery beer that his wife, Eva, brews herself. What an added treat! By far the best part of the meal was dessert. David made sticky toffee pudding with fresh whip cream and caramel sauce. I'm sure we would have eaten the whole cake if we sat at the table long enough! We had wonderful conversation and learned a lot about Iceland from them. I would highly recommend David's dinner experience.

David and his lovely family hosted such a fantastic meal. I haven't been this well fed in such a long time! I only remembered to take pictures at the end for the desserts! The lamb was cook perfectly and dessert was a perfect ending! Home brewed beers were plentiful and all tasted great! I was so grateful for the good company during my first night in Reykjavik! Thanks to David, Eva and his adorable kids!
